AI, Cameras, Creativity and More to Converge at Prolight + Sound 2025 Knowledge Hub Latest News by Elton - March 21, 2025 The global stage for event technology gears up for its 30th glorious edition, expanding its Image Creation Hub and spotlighting AI’s transformative role in the industry. Prolight + Sound 2025 is set to make its mark as the premier international trade fair for event and entertainment technology, celebrating its 30th anniversary from 8 to 11 April in Frankfurt am Main. With a sharpened focus on cutting-edge video and camera technology through an expanded Image Creation Hub and an in-depth exploration of artificial intelligence’s (AI) growing influence on the industry, this year’s event is poised to push the boundaries of innovation and professional dialogue. Following its successful debut last year, the Image Creation Hub returns bigger and better, covering approximately 740 m². Developed in collaboration with the Federal Association of Television Cameramen (BVFK), this space will serve as a dynamic hub for camera professionals, video technicians, and creative minds working with moving images. “The fine art of camera work lies in its invisibility – organic movements, flowing changes of perspective, and precise sharpness, live and in every moment,” states Frank Trautmann, 1st Chairman of BVFK. “Even in the age of artificial intelligence, the creative handwriting of cameramen remains irreplaceable” The expanded hub will feature expert-led hands-on workshops, interactive sessions, and an enhanced educational programme; and Mira Wölfel, Director of Prolight + Sound, highlights the significance of this initiative: “With the Image Creation Hub, we are once again sending a strong signal about the relevance of image and video technology in the industry.” The exhibitor area will showcase leading brands and industry associations, including the German Society of Cinematographers (BVK), the German Association of Film Editors (BFS), and notable companies such as Canon, Cine Brands Munich, Dedo Weigert Film, MLS | magic light + sound GmbH, MOO Video Productions, Sigma, and Solectric, featuring brands like DJI, OBSBOT, and Z-CAM. Visitors can explore the latest technological advancements, connect with experts, and gain insights into emerging trends. A standout among the workshops will be the Camera College, running from 8–10 April, where professionals will dissect technical and creative challenges, from the practical application of gimbals to the evolving relevance of vertical-format shooting. Meanwhile, the Speakers Area will host live demonstrations and discussions on AI-controlled PTZ cameras, drone licensing, and cutting-edge stabilisation systems such as the ARRI TRINITY and ARTEMIS. Oscar-winning cinematographer Curt Schaller will lead a workshop on these systems alongside Michael Gebendorfer of BVFK. In parallel, artificial intelligence takes centre stage at this year’s Prolight + Sound under the theme ‘FutureScapes: Worlds of Experience between Immersion and AI.’ The event will explore how AI is revolutionising personalisation, automation, and data-driven decision-making within the event industry. Dr Uve Samuels, founder and CEO of the Exponential Innovation Institute, will headline the session ‘AI: The Stage is Yours’ on 8 April, delving into how companies can develop their own AI-driven products. Sven Ortel’s session ‘Entertaining Change’ on 9 April will examine the intersection of AI, game engines, and mixed reality in storytelling, while Vickie Claiborne’s talk on 10 April will explore AI’s impact on creativity. The AI conversation continues at the Image Creation Hub, where a panel of experts will discuss legal challenges surrounding AI and copyright. Marko Massinger will showcase the AI-supported 4K HDR-PTZ camera OBSBOT TAIL, which uses AI-powered object and person detection, demonstrating the growing role of automation in content creation. AI’s influence will also extend to MusicOneX, a new special area at the fair dedicated to AI’s impact on music production. Producer and rapper Aufmischen will present ‘AI in Music Production,’ demonstrating AI-driven composition and mastering techniques, while another session titled ‘AI for Mobile DJs’ will explore the evolving role of AI in live DJ performances. Beyond presentations and workshops, Prolight + Sound 2025 underscores AI’s broader role in reshaping the event industry. AI-powered solutions are revolutionising event planning by automating logistics, streamlining communication, and enhancing audience engagement. From intelligent lighting control to AI-driven acoustic optimisation, machine learning is being leveraged to refine production quality at live events. AI matchmaking tools are also enabling hyper-personalised networking experiences, ensuring that attendees connect with relevant industry professionals. “The event industry can decide: either to observe passively or to actively shape the future,” remarks Dr Uve Samuels, underscoring the urgency for businesses to integrate AI-driven strategies. Prolight + Sound continues to stand as a beacon for the global event technology sector, covering lighting, audio, AV, staging, and event solutions on an unparalleled scale. With an extensive exhibitor lineup, high-profile networking opportunities, and free access to lectures, workshops, and product demonstrations for all ticketed visitors, the 2025 edition promises to be a landmark event. As AI reshapes the industry and cutting-edge camera technologies push creative boundaries, Prolight + Sound 2025 is set to provide an unmissable platform for professionals seeking to navigate the evolving landscape of live event production.
