Gabisom Outlines Sound Reinforcement for Rock in Rio’s 40th Anniversary

In 2024, Rock in Rio celebrated its 40th anniversary, cementing its position as one of the world’s largest and most ambitious music festivals. For nearly 15 years, Outline’s audio systems have made a notable impact on the event’s sound reinforcement, with São Paulo-based Gabisom Audio Equipment — one of the world’s largest and most well-respected audio hire companies — taking on the sound reinforcement role for Rock in Rio, aligning with the festival’s stature and demands.

This year, Outline’s GTO, GTO C-12, Superfly, and Mantas 28 models, driven by Outline power amplifiers, were deployed across three of the festival’s key stages: New Dance Order, Global Village, and Supernova. Gabisom has made significant investments in Outline audio technology in 2023 and 2024, following earlier purchases that included a substantial GTO C-12 system and Newton processors in 2020.

In 2020, Gabisom became the world’s largest owner of Newton inventory, utilising these [patented] FPGA-based processors for their superior signal management capabilities and unique WFIR filtering technology.

Since that time, alongside the expanding inventory of loudspeaker systems, Newton devices have become a cornerstone of Gabisom’s operations, providing precise control for both Outline and non-Outline systems at Rock in Rio — across both the Brazil and Lisbon editions — as well as at many other large-scale events.

“The first time I worked with the GTO and C-12 system, I was impressed by the headroom and clarity, particularly in the high frequencies, without harshness, and the strong, tight low-end response. This is ideal for high-energy concerts like EDM,” commented Danilo Costa, one of Gabisom’s system engineers, reflecting on his experience at the New Dance Order stage.

The stage featured four PAs with 10 GTO boxes each, 48 DBS 18-2 sub-bass units, and 12 Mantas 28 units for front-fill, all supported by Newton processors for precise matrix management of two Yamaha consoles. Once again, in the hands of Gabisom’s engineers, Outline’s products and technologies were instrumental in maintaining the high standards of sound reinforcement at Rock in Rio’s 40th edition, reaffirming their effectiveness in major live events across the globe.
